We have a Patient Participation Group (PPG) for the patients of Whinfield Medical Practice. The purpose of this group is to ensure that patients are involved in decisions about the range and quality of services provided, and over time, commissioned by the practice. We plan to ask for and discuss views from the group. This includes patients being involved in decisions that lead to changes to the services the practice provides or commissions, either directly or in its capacity as gatekeeper to other services. We may also seek views from practice patients through the use of a local practice surveys. The outcomes of the engagement and the views of patients will be published on this website.
The group will be used to encourage dialogue electronically with our patients and also by hosting face to face meetings of the group every 3 to 4 months. The Practice Manager, senior staff and a doctor are members of the PPG and will attend any meetings.
We plan for the PPG to be representative of all age groups, ethnic backgrounds and social groups.
We need representation from all age groups, ethnic backgrounds and social groups. If you are happy for us to contact you periodically by email please complete the sign up form.
Group Members
Our group currently consists of 18 members all of whom are registered patients of the practice. We have 8 men and 10 women. Ages range from 42 – 81. We were unable to recruit anyone in a younger age group despite our advertisements on the website and in the reception area.
33% of the group visit the practice on a regular basis and 67% occasionally.
We have 6 carers in the group and 11 with a long-standing illness. 17% of the group are employed with 11% unemployed, 56% retired, 6% looking after family, 5% in full time education and 5% of members unable to work through illness.
Meetings
On Friday 12th September 2014 Whinfeld Medical Practice Patient Participation Group held the first face to face meeting,the group meeting went very well and was attended by six members of the group.
