Medical Students

The practice is involved in the undergraduates medical school teaching programme. We teach both fifth year and third year students. The fifth years come to the practice in the autumn for a three week block. The third years are in the surgery on a Wednesday morning September to December then all day Tuesdays from January to June. Sometimes you may be asked to see the doctor or nurse with a student present. You will always be asked beforehand if this is acceptable and you have the right to refuse if you prefer to have your consultation in private. occasionally it is useful for a student to see a patient on their own, then present the case to the GP. Again you will always be asked if this is acceptable.

We believe that teaching the next generation of doctors about general practice is important and we appreciate your help in doing this. We are looking into extending our teaching role and teaching newly qualified doctors about general practice.
